Habitat and Biodiversity

Human activity has driven the giant panda from most of its traditional habitat until it survives in the wild in only a few isolated areas. Even these areas are constantly at risk of degradation and intrusion.

This destruction of natural habitat has also hurt all of the species who share that habitat with the giant panda. The rich biodiversity of these areas is at risk. We could never replicate it so we must keep it from being destroyed while we learn more about the complex interactions which allow the giant panda and other species to survive. One thing is crystal clear. If we are to save the giant panda for future generations, it is essential that we preserve, protect and expand its current habitat and the biodiversity present there.
